GARDEN d'LIGHTS 2009

November 28, 2009 - January 2, 2010
5:00 to 10:00 pm Every Evening Including Holidays

Supported by Classical KING FM 98.1

November 28 will mark the grand opening of this year’s Garden d’Lights presentation.  Thousands of volunteer hours have gone into another fantastic light show – many, many thanks to all of you who have helped and are still helping!

Highlighting this year’s display will be a new creation of the Poinsettia tree done in LED lights, a new purple clematis arbor, a larger pond display, and a surprise addition to the Aquarium in Lights in the Visitor’s Center.  The Tropical Garden will move to the Rhody Glen, and a new Grape Arbor will be featured in the Rose Garden area.    Charlotte, Willie, and the frog will also be hiding among the flowers, along with butterflies, dragonflies, swans, peacocks, and the alligator.  We will once again have maps to help you find all of the creations.   There will be a new Information Booth at the entrance where maps and light information will be handed out. The Critter Map is also available for download here.

CD of Garden d'Lights Available

Parking is available in the Botanical Garden parking lot for $5.   Parking fees help support Garden d’Lights. Free parking is available to the east at Wilburton Hill Park

Due to the large crowds, police officers will again be there during the display to help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on Main Street.  Directional arrows and big lights will also help groups find their way in, and Garden staff members will also be on sight.   The cost for these and other expenses need to be met by your donation. Your donations are critical to make this event possible!

Suggested donations are $1 per person and $5 per family.

This year, when you donate, you can choose to get tickets to enter our nightly and weekly drawings, or our grand prize drawings.

$1 donation enters you into our Nightly Drawing for a primrose pot.
$5 donation enters you into the Weekly Drawing for a brilliant 8” pot featuring primroses and hyacinths and using a total of 5 strings of lights.
$10 donation will enter you in the Grand Prize Drawing featuring a 12” pot filled with 11 strings of lights made into daisies, primroses, and bluebells.
One 12” pot will be given away on December 16, the other on January

You do not need to be present to win – just remember to put your name and phone number on your ticket stub before you drop it in the box! We hope you will all come to enjoy the lights, participate in donating and join the fun of the drawings!

Please remember, dogs or other pets are not allowed in the garden.

The Garden gift shop, 'The Trillium' will be open 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm each night with books, garden tools, accessories and decorative botanical items for the home as well.

Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help create this magical event.  Learn how to create your own 'winter garden' by attending one of our classes and helping make, install, or takedown the display.

Our Wonderful 2008 Sponsors

City of Bellevue Parks & Community Services provides the power and infrastructure for Garden d'Lights.  Not only do they pay the power bill, the Parks Department staff provides guidance in administrating the event and help in setting up the display.  We also receive a generous cash donation as part of the City’s support of the Bellevue Magic Season.

HomeStreet Bank is the major cash sponsor of Garden d'Lights and several of their employees help make and set up the lights each year. Thanks to their support we are able to add something new each year.

Bellevue Botanical Garden Society supports Garden d'Lights not only monetarily, but with thousands of hours of volunteer work to make and display the seemingly millions of lights that make up the display.

Bellevue Downtown Association allows us to be part of the Magic Season even though we are not located downtown.
