On March 30th, 2006, the last remaining parcel of open space adjacent to the Bellevue Botanical Garden was purchased by the City of Bellevue for incorporation into the Parks and open space system. Acquisition of the 17-acre site preserves the Garden's existing seclusion and wildlife habitat and increases it's size by 50%. |

The purchase
of this key piece of property took nearly 4 years of strategic planning to
secure funding of the just over $4,000,000 price. King County
Conservation Futures and the City of Bellevue provided
Gifts from private individuals and foundations, public and private companies provided the balance, a prime example of a successful public/private partnership.
