Edgworthia chrysantha

Landscaping Value: Wonderful fragrance, large silky buds, and strong outline of this shrub make it a good choice for the winter garden. Unusual flower heads develop in autumn and bloom in the spring before leaves appear. This plant is the traditional source to fine writing paper in the orient.

Susceptible to damage by frost.
Bloom Period:
February-March
Conditions: Needs sun or part-shade with some winter protection, with well drained, organic soil.  Will not tolerate hot dry conditions.
Natural Range: Himalaya, S.W. China

: USDA zones 8

 Perennial border, S.W. area.
