Fothergilla gardenii

Other cultivars/species:

‘Jane Platt’ is a smaller variety that holds its fall color a little longer than other types.  The leaves on ‘Blue Mist’ have a nice blue-green color, although the fall color is not as spectacular. ‘Mt. Airy’ grows in a more upright habit, and reaches 3-5 feet in height.

Extra notes and interesting information:
Brilliant fall color that lasts late into the season.
Great as a foundation plant.  Also useful for shrub or perennial boarders.
Combines well with azaleas or rhododendrons.
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Gold Medal was awarded to both the species and its cultivar, ‘Blue Mist’
.
