Geranium 'Gerwat'

Discovered in 1990 in the garden of Rozanne and Donald Waterer of Somerset, England and developed by Adrian Bloom of Blooms of Bressingham.  It is said to be a sterile hybrid of G. himalayense and G. wallichianum ‘Buxton’s Variety.’  2008 Perennial of the Year. US Plant Patent PP12, 175; issued Oct. 30, 2001.

Common Name: Rozanne Hardy Geranium
Plant Type: Deciduous, herbaceous perennial.
Family: Geraniaceae
Height/Spread: 10” by 18”, flowers 15” tall.
Leaves: Deeply cut, slightly marbled, deep green foliage.
Flowers: 2 1/2-inch violet blue flowers with white centers and purple violet veins.

Bloom Time: June to Frost.
Growing Conditions:
Full sun; fertile, well drained, humus rich soil; regular water during summer dry spells.
Hardiness:
USDA Zones 5 to 8.
Garden Location: Perennial Border: PB07, PB08, PB10, PB11. PB12.
