Volunteer at the Bellevue Botanical Garden and join hundreds of individuals and groups that provide 10,000 hours each year supporting the Garden. Volunteers participate in educational programs, special events, horticultural assistance and fundraising—all essential in enriching visitor experience.

You can make a contribution by giving just one or hundreds of hours of your time enhancing this community jewel.

Garden d'Lights Training Classes
The purpose of our training classes is to teach the basic principles of how we make our light flowers to persons interested in joining our group and becoming an Active Participant in our program.

Active Participant: someone who commits to attending our Training Class and then comes to three or more work parties during the year to help with our projects. An Active Participant would also commit to either helping with setup and take down of our light display and/or helping during the show as a greeter.

Training Classes are usually held the third Monday night of each month, March through September, and are offered to those interested in becoming an Active Participant in our program. Class space is limited to twelve people each month.

Once you attend a training class you are expected to attend three or more of our work parties which are held throughout the year on Monday's (except for the Training Class Monday). During work parties you continue to learn more flower making skills.

If you are interest in becomiong an Active Participant volunteer for Garden d'Lights, please submit your information online using our Volunteer Application

I want to volunteer but don't want to make lights. Can I be of help?
Yes! We welcome volunteers during light installation (the month of November, during the actual show (performing a variety of tasks), and during the take down process (usually the two weeks following the last night of the light show.) You must be 16 or older to participate.

Let us know you would like to help by submitting your information online through our Volunteer Application

Please take into consideration that you need to dress for the weather while you volunteer. We are working outside in the winter. Good rain gear, waterproof shoes, gloves, etc. will make your time outdoors in the elements much easier and a lot more fun. We do not work during high wind storms and driving rain, but knowing that we live in the Pacific Northwest, there are days when it is raining and cold and proper apparel is a must.
